It's
that time again, USAA auction time! This time around, the auction
was
somewhat small, but not TOO bad. Lots of entertaining pictures below.
None
of the prices are posted - I could only stay for pictures and a few of
the
misc. junk items at the beginning.
This
auction's front-runner for the Bad Conversion award: my vote is for the
X-Men conversion. Featured at the end of this page, you'll see in
vivid, terrifying detail why some games should be put out of our
misery. Another contender is the "game formerly known as Space Duel" in
the first row, that has been MAMEfied to something truly horrific.
See
if you can spot all the conversions in the below pictures, and send me
an
e-mail with your vote for the worst conversion of this auction. I'll
start
a running feature, and the conversion that gets the most votes from
each
auction will go into a special "Hall of Shame" section on the site.
Check
out the previous auctions I have pictures from on this site and submit
candidates from those as well. Just make sure you tell me the picture
name
(right click and look for the "View Image" or similar option, it should
tell you the file name) and which auction it's from. Submit your
entries
here.
The Leland Quarterback cocktail is in GREAT condition,
but had some monitor issues. Scott took this one home. Cocktails
this time around had a special place at the top of the first row.
Cabal worked but the monitor is a bit wavy. Joust was non-working.
Centipede went for more than I would have thought. This time around, I
did not note hammer prices. Where I do remember the prices, add up to
21% for buyer's premium, sales tax, and non-cash payment fees. They
accepted debit cards, and charged you as though you were using cash,
which was a pleasant surprise.
Turbo, Arkanoid: Revenge of
Doh, Turbo Outrun, Ms. Pac Man.
Super Hang-On, Vs. Pinball,
Turbo, G-Loc
Speed Buggy, Super Chase HQ, Food
Fight..? Huh? That's a Neo Geo?!
No, worse.. it's a Space Duel, with a Food Fight marquee, Neo Geo CP,
and a PC monitor installed. Yep, MAMEified!
Ataxx, Ice Cold Beer (new version, I've never seen one like it, went
for $$$), Karate Champ, Stocker?
Gals Panic, Area 51 Site 4 (And, might I add, it's a sad day when that
game ends up in the first row!), Speed Buggy, Turbo mini
Frogger, Pole Position, RallyX (working, clearly), Skillmaster Bowling,
FrontLine
Super Monaco GP, Motorace,
OutRun, Wizard of Wor (Mine! All Mine!)
Another shot of the Wizard of Wor. Played blind. I discovered the
monitor neck had broken when I got it home. I think I have another
monitor laying around here that might work for this game.
Second Row: Off Road, Neo Geo (2-game), um something and
something, and Keyboard Mania 3rd Mix.
2005 Golden Tee, Deer Hunter USA, Crisis Zone, Gunsmoke(?)
Turkey Hunter USA, Ridge Racer 2, Police Trainer, Skins Game
Mortal Kombat 3, NBA Showtime, Race Drivin, War Gods
2005 Golden Tee,something, Tekken 3, Dynamate Cop(?)
Simpsons Bowling, Skins Game, Race Drivin, Lethal Enforcers
Tekken 4, Gauntlet Legends, yet another shooter..
Tekken 2 (ooh, classic!), NBA Jam, yet another Skins Game
Something, Something, Pit Fighter, Top Speed, Mario Bros - working, but
after playing 5 minutes, I remembered why I'd never put it in my
arcade..
PlayChoice, Speed Up, Something, VirtuaFighter, Arch Rivals
Spooks (EM light gun game), Tecmo Bowl, Crossbow, racing game I wasn't
familiar with
Now wait a minute.. this dance isn't for everyone, just for the sexy
people. So all you fly muthas, get out there and dance, dance I say!
Cobra Command... or IS IT Astron Belt? *DA DA DUMMMMM*
It's an Astron Belt cabinet, it seems.. Laser disc player
manufacturer's logo on the back. Both games were laser disc games, so
looks good so far!
Marquee? Haven't seen that before, but okay...check. Doesn't match
what's in KLOV..
6 multicolored buttons and a joystick.. ???
THE HORROR!!
I have video of Scott playing it,
if anyone would like to download it here.
Be aware, it's 34MB in size, Quicktime format.
We got a Baywatch pin and two
vids on the back of an Escalade.. Wow.
And got the Leland Quarterback and a Solar Fire pin on the back of
Scott's truck. I got an email from Scott a couple days later saying he
had BARELY cleared the garage door with the Leland game (pin was
unloaded elsewhere).
Until next time..
